“Jagged Stars is my way of describing what it’s like to be young in the 21st century. When writing the song, it was the only way I could put into words how I feel, being 19 in this world. We’re something like geodes or meteorites. We’re rough and jagged and sparkly. We’re bright, but we burn out terribly fast. I wrote the lyrics to “Jagged Stars” as sort of a façade within themselves. At first listen, it feels upbeat and alluring and fun. But, if you listen another time or two, you start to hear that twinge of sadness in it. It’s a good sadness, though, in my opinion! Being young feels like seeing a fireworks show for the first time. You hold your breath and bask in it, but the whole time you can’t help but think of what happens when it ends,” explains Caroline. “I think, especially in today’s world, there’s a lot of pressure to be “somebody.” I haven’t quite figured out who we’re all trying to be exactly, but I don’t think it’s ourselves. There’s always the internet, and those friends you think you’re supposed to hang out with every weekend. Because, after all, isn’t that what young people are “supposed to do?” Being young is the most glorious tragedy I can think of. Emotions are high, love is right at your fingertips, and nothing ever feels quite right. We’re resilient and chaotic and terribly hopeful. The world is mad, and we’re trying to find out place in it. We’re jagged stars.”
Exclusively via Music Crowns, Caroline Romano has given us an exclusive peak at your song Jagged Stars.
“I hope anyone who listens to the song takes away the idea that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. It’s okay to love being young, and to hate it at the same time. I think most of us feel the same way,” explains Caroline. “Terrified of the future, but we can’t wait for it to get here. I’ve always been someone who just hasn’t been very good at being “young.” My biggest hope is that this song lets people know that they’re not alone in the way they’re feeling. I want anyone listening to take away that we have to take it one day at a time. We have to be too young and too old and too carefree and too scared as it comes.”
The young pop singer-songwriter is already on her way to stardom. Prior projects and releases has landed her countless opportunities to gain knowledge and become a new pop star to watch.
