Following 2017’s ‘The Last Hangman’, Hotel Lux today share the follow up single ‘Daddy’, the A-side from an upcoming 7″ release due out via Big Score Records on 20th May.
Produced by George Murphy and Duc Peterman of London’s HMLTD, the record combines menacing piano chords with twisted guitar-picking – a new, exciting direction from their previous cathartic live performances.
Frontman Lewis Duffin explains that song is influenced by their local Portsmouth’s Paulsgrove riots in 2000: “It’s a tale of barbarity, sorrow and vengeance. An attempt to step into the British realist tradition of portraying the most vulgar and distorted aspects of the communities we live in… like Clarke in Scum and Meadows with his This Is England series, for example.”
