The Rhythm Method have, over the course of their few songs released so far, become one of the most quintessentially British sounding acts currently out. The duo of Joey and Rowan have presented amusing characters in their music; the kinds of geezers you’d find down a local pub, equal parts intelligent, slovenly and horny. Their latest offering is the funky and infectious ‘Something For The Weekend‘, on the surface a simple nod towards the barber’s old euphemism for condoms, but the lyrics sprawl out into a spoken-word jaunt touching on plenty of British bastions of good times, like Radcliffe and Maconie, bank holidays and the escape into the passion of a flirtatious attraction. Ringing out with fully unabashed classic pop melodies, backing vocals and laddy delivery, ‘Something For The Weekend‘ is an absolute winner. Listen below.
The Rhythm Method will hopefully continue to churn out sunny singles like this one, with a view to an album coming out at some point. For now you can catch them on tour all over the UK throughout October.
