MUSA_SG are a band from Singapore who have been turning heads with their covers of contemporary pop.
Twin sisters, Su-Min and Su-Hui, alongside composer, Dayn Ng, not only produce stunning original work, but they also rearrange all types of genres from pop to world music. However, these aren’t standard covers. They use instruments that are 2,000 years old.
Su-Hui plays Guzheng, also known as Chinese zither, and Su-Hui the Zhongruan, which is a plucked Chinese instrument. Both sisters are scholars of the Singapore National Arts Council and hold masters degrees from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
They are joined by Dayn Ng who arranges the compositions and has an honours degree from the Royal College of Music.
The group have covered a range of hits including ‘Cheap Thrills‘ by Sia and ‘Counting Stars‘ by One Republic. However, one of their most interesting arrangements has been a mashup of Sia’s ‘Chandelier‘. The video now has over a 1.7 million views on YouTube alone. Check out the cover above.
