Reubencmg, an independent rapper-come-producer from London, is back, having grown a reputation for his relentless determination in the UK underground scene. This time, via new single Summer Here and Gone, an introspective single lending influence from Early Sweatshirt.
Discussing the release, Reuben explains:
“I wrote this tape, Awontirim, which means “God’s Gift” in my native language. I wanted it to feel conscious with an African touch, exploring themes of grief, love, and relationships. The writing process was straightforward—a mix of older raps and freestyling. I actually wrote several songs during the same five-hour session it took to record the entire tape. I record and write fast; for this project, I focused on a stream-of-consciousness style where the recording process is just as important as the writing.”
Supported by Reprezent Radio and working alongside producer Bhriz, the single dives into the highs and lows of summer love – but Summer Here and Gone is for sure a big high for Reubencmg. Stream below:
