Darude reconnects with a defining moment in his catalogue through the Feel The Beat remix package – the first official remixes in over 20 years, released via his Vibing Out imprint. Bringing together artists who have long championed the record alongside a new generation of producers, the release reimagines the track for today’s club landscape while staying true to its unmistakable identity first introduced in 2000.
The project developed organically, spurred on by fan and industry demand. During Darude’s worldwide STORM 25 Anniversary Tour last year, excitement kicked in: “The reaction to Ilan Bluestone’s remix during my STORM 25 shows was a standout moment,” says Darude. Adding: “Giuseppe had been playing his version for years, and I’d already seen a strong crowd response to Junkkataxi’s remix. It felt natural to bring these together officially.”
The package spans multiple styles across modern electronic music, with contributions from Ilan Bluestone, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Emily Nash, Nilsix (Ørjan Nilsen & Mark Sixma), EM11 (HE.SHE.THEY), and Junkkataxi, each offering a distinct interpretation while retaining the recognisable drive of ‘Feel The Beat.’
Ilan Bluestone reflects passionately: “Feel The Beat was one of the records that inspired me to start producing trance music. Darude and I became close friends and I always told him this was the one track of his I absolutely had to remix. Because the original means so much to me, I wanted to keep its DNA intact, focusing on enhancing the groove and adding a little more drive underneath, all whilst staying true to what makes it such a timeless classic.”
Giuseppe Ottaviani adds: “Feel The Beat was the Darude tune I connected with the most. I used to play it only vinyl until my turntable broke. It’s a real honour to get the opportunity to remix it. “
Alongside the remixes, the release features newly recorded vocals from Austrian singer, songwriter and producer PAENDA (Gabriela Horn), faithfully recreating the original while giving the new versions a contemporary edge.
The remix package continues the momentum behind Vibing Out, Darude’s independent label and creative hub, an ambitious drive to nurture impactful new music, embracing new technologies, disrupting trends and supporting artists honestly and transparently.
Darude has already been road-testing the new remixes during his ongoing HYPE Tour DJ sets, which has so far included prominent stops from EDC Las Vegas to Steelyard London, with LA, New York, Chicago and more top cities on the horizon this summer. Offering fans an early glimpse of how ‘Feel The Beat’ is resonating on modern dancefloors.
