In a music landscape filled with constant movement and digital noise, Clíodhna Ní Aodáin creates something different: a moment of stillness. The Irish cellist and composer’s new album For The Love Of Trees is a deeply personal exploration of nature, memory and the emotional connection between humans and the world around them.
Inspired by years of listening to the quiet presence of trees, Ní Aodáin transformed these experiences into seven atmospheric compositions. Rather than simply writing about nature, she created music directly from her encounters with it. She brought her cello into forests across Ireland, Switzerland and the United States, allowing each location to influence the melodies and emotions behind the work.
The result is an album that feels both intimate and cinematic. Tracks such as “Linden Tree” capture the peaceful strength of nature, while the wider collection invites listeners into a world of reflection, healing and deep connection.
Recorded on the cello of Grammy Award-winning cellist David Darling and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Mickey Houlihan, For The Love Of Trees combines classical technique with ambient textures, field recordings and Ní Aodáin’s expressive vocal and instrumental approach.
The project reflects a growing movement in music toward mindfulness and emotional storytelling. However, Ní Aodáin’s work stands apart because of its deeply personal origin. The album was not created to follow a trend, but to capture a genuine relationship between artist, sound and the natural world.
Through her unique blend of Celtic tradition, contemporary composition and healing music, Clíodhna Ní Aodáin introduces listeners to a different kind of musical experience — one built on presence, imagination and the simple act of listening.
