London-based alternative writer-come-artist Saachisen is embracing her love of science in her latest pop-sci-fi fusion, The Girl That Was Made Of Antimatter. With a master’s degree in electronic engineering, Saachisen clearly has not limited her mastery to the sciences; her new single is a carefully constructed track.
In her words, “just like engineering as a discipline, sci-fi is a genre characterised by possibility – which is why to me, it feels so natural and exciting to write about.”
Expanding on the release further, Saachisen explains, “The Girl That Was Made of Antimatter is a science fiction story told through the medium of alternative pop. I wrote the chorus originally about the sense of feeling othered; sometimes so distant from a situation or set of people that I may as well have been their polar opposite,” explains Saachisen. “It combined so many of my joys and I’m excited for it to be the first of a planned, fully sci-fi themed EP.”
Produced alongside Abbey Road Institute’s Dave Leondi, long-time collaborator, Saachi won Best Emerging artist at the Eastern Eye ACTAs, which celebrate UK South Asian Arts, joining the likes of Charli XCX. Having been supported by the BBC, PRIDE showcases and embassy performances, Saachisen is making waves with fans and industry alike.
