Music Crowns is proud to premiere Moments, the brand-new EP from American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Austyn Gillette. Across five evocative tracks, Gillette delivers a thoughtful and emotionally resonant collection that further solidifies his place as one of indie music’s most distinctive voices.
Blending alternative, indie, and subtle pop influences, Moments is an immersive listening experience filled with introspective lyricism, lush melodies, and textured arrangements. Gillette’s trademark approachability shines through every song, balancing catchy guitar riffs, classic synthesizer flourishes, and his uniquely expressive vocal delivery with deeply reflective themes.
Originally from Los Angeles, Gillette first began writing songs as a teenager while simultaneously building a successful professional skateboarding career. Over the years, he developed a sound that draws inspiration from alternative rock, indie music, and hip-hop, creating songs designed to make listeners move, think, and feel.
His debut solo album, Sensorisk (2018), introduced audiences to his conversational songwriting style and narrative-driven compositions. Following a move to New York City, Gillette wrote and recorded his sophomore album, Words We Won’t Wear (2021), a more expansive and disciplined body of work inspired by a particularly unforgiving winter. The album was later supported by a West Coast tour alongside Cat Power.
Since then, Gillette’s artistic evolution has continued at pace. In 2023, he released “Leaning into Your Palms,” accompanied by a David Findlay-directed music video that premiered via NOWNESS before touring international film festivals. The following year saw him collaborate with members of Tennis on the singles “Fingers to the Flame” and “Out of Our Heads.”
A move to Paris in 2025 brought fresh inspiration through travel, culture, and self-reflection. Returning to Los Angeles in 2026, Gillette channelled these experiences into Moments, recorded at Rancho Deluxe in Nashville. Inspired by a year spent travelling throughout Europe, the EP explores themes of fulfillment, change, love, and self-awareness.
Central to the project is the Swedish concept of lagom—meaning “just the right amount.” Throughout the record, Gillette examines modern ambition, contentment, and the often-overlooked beauty of living in the present moment. The result is a collection that feels intimate, honest, and quietly profound.
Opening track “Is It Enough” meditates on fulfillment and the cost of chasing material success, while “Splinters” offers an optimistic perspective on endings and the opportunities hidden within uncertainty. The title track “Moments Last” captures the vulnerability and excitement of new love, and “In Due Time” serves as a heartfelt message of encouragement to a friend searching for the courage to move forward. Closing song “Imminent” rounds out the EP with a contemplative reminder that change is not only inevitable but often transformative.
With Moments, Austyn Gillette delivers a beautifully crafted body of work that invites listeners to slow down, reflect, and embrace life as it unfolds. It’s a compelling next chapter from an artist whose creative journey continues to evolve with grace and authenticity.
