Ireland-based singer-songwriter Mick Rochford returns with a striking and deeply human new single, “Killing Me Today”, available now. The track is the latest release from his forthcoming debut album, I’ve Got Something to Say and marks another significant step in Rochford’s remarkable evolution as a solo artist.
Having spent decades behind the drums since the 1990s—most notably performing alongside legendary Irish band Aslan in major venues across the country—Rochford has emerged as a compelling and authentic voice in his own right.
“Killing Me Today” is a raw and unflinching exploration of addiction, with a particular focus on alcoholism. Rather than sensationalizing the subject, Rochford approaches it with empathy and honesty, offering a window into the physical, emotional, and relational toll addiction takes on those living through it. The song aims to give a voice to individuals often unheard, shedding light on their struggles while encouraging understanding and compassion.
Speaking about the track, Rochford explains:
“This song is a compassionate look at what it means to suffer under addiction. I wrote it to give voice to anyone struggling to understand their situation and how it can eventually lead to their death.”
Beyond his music career, Mick Rochford’s life reflects a deep commitment to leadership and community. He serves as CEO of Ireland’s national children’s cancer charity, as well as CEO of Jax Bathroom Suppliers, and is also a dedicated kickboxing coach. These roles speak to the discipline, resilience, and compassion that also define his artistry.
With “Killing Me Today”, Mick Rochford not only delivers a powerful musical statement but also opens an important conversation; one rooted in empathy, awareness, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
