To coincide with two sold-out performances at London’s legendary 100 Club, Lenny Kaye, guitarist of the Patti Smith Group and original curator of Nuggets, joined forces with Joe De Lorenzo to assemble an all-star Nuggets Band for a special live session at BBC Maida Vale Studios.
That electrifying performance, recorded for Marc Riley and Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music, is now set for release as Nuggets Live At The BBC, a limited edition 10” vinyl arriving exclusively for Record Store Day 2026.
Released via In.2 Records, the label founded by Johnny Depp, the four-track EP captures the raw spirit and legacy of the original Nuggets era. The recording features a powerhouse lineup including Nick Detroit (The Damned), Dave Treganna (Sham 69, Lords of the New Church), Marty Love, Doctor Clive Jackson, Greg Rice, and Jim Jones.
Recorded live on 4 April 2024 and broadcast shortly after, the EP features a set of garage rock classics: I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night, My Little Red Book, Little Bit O’ Soul, and Gloria. The release comes full circle with I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night, the opening track from Kaye’s seminal 1972 compilation, Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential compilations in rock history, Nuggets introduced a generation to the raw energy of 1960s garage rock and helped shape the early language of “punk rock,” spotlighting artists such as 13th Floor Elevators, The Electric Prunes, and The Seeds.
Pressed as a strictly limited run of 1,000 copies, split between 500 black and 500 blue vinyl editions, Nuggets Live At The BBC is set to become a sought-after collector’s item, celebrating the enduring influence of garage rock and psychedelia.
To mark the release, an exclusive listening party will be held at The Spice of Life in Soho from 2 pm on Record Store Day (18 April), offering fans and industry insiders a rare chance to experience the record in an intimate setting.
