Wynona Bleach have unveiled another single from their highly anticipated second album, Animal Style. The new track, ‘Religion’ is immediately full-bodied and forceful, their alt-rock sensibility out in force, as they naturally bring heavy distortion, energetic instrumentation and a dark, brooding undertone.

Guitar harmonics land first in a hypnotic melody. The vocals and drums arrive next, one gritty but melodic, the other a punchy rhythm. The bass then roars into life, doubling down on the sense of urgency. Once all the pieces are in place, they find their feet in a roaring anthem, electrifying intensity and with unlimited stamina.

On the track, the band shares, “The track is about seeing someone you find so attractive, the dirty thoughts make you wanna find god. It’s less a love song, and more a “lust” song. It’s about when you meet someone that makes you feel like you’d do anything, even if it was to lie to your true self. It also calls out fake people, fake society, organised religion and how everything made out to be ‘cool’ is usually just a con.”

The Belfast four-piece formed in 2018 and has since built a reputation as a compelling alt-rock export for Northern Ireland. With plenty of support across the UK & Ireland, and their debut album on the horizon, coming out via Fierce Panda Records, it’s up and up for Wynona Beach.
