This is what a New Year’s resolution from an uncool, aging dad-bod looks like.
Proof that sometimes life does begin after 9 pm, once the kids are asleep and the dishwasher is finally on.
50% of Apachelux is Jay: a white-collar corporate guy who experienced the kind of mental breakdown you don’t post about on LinkedIn.
Married, father and fully paid-up member of life’s “normals,” Jay watched his passion for music slowly dissolve under adulthood, responsibility, and the relentless corporate commuter grind.
He didn’t want his kids thinking dad’s story was a guy that worked in Insurance. So after bedtime stories, laundry, tidying LEGO (again), and clocking out of the bill-paying job, Jay cleared the toys, dusted off the ideas, and quietly found his way back to music, one late night at a time.
Not long after, Apachelux became complete with the arrival of FJ, the duo’s quiet vocal genius.
The other half of Apachelux is FJ, who is equal parts powerhouse, awkward silence, and flawless vocal layering.
With a background spanning drum & bass to opera, she brings emotional depth, range, and beautifully unhinged vocal textures to Jay’s multi-instrumentalist productions.
Apachelux aren’t influencers. They don’t have perfect lives, six-packs, or sponsored skincare routines. No one’s filming a “day in the life.” They’re just two regular people making music, just because.
Their music comes from real life and is made for the overthinkers, the feel-too-muchers, the burnout survivors, and the introverts hiding in the bathroom at parties pretending to check their phone.
It’s honest, loud, slightly chaotic, and occasionally uncomfortable, in the best way. So, if you’re tired of highlight reels and want a soundtrack for your real, messy, wonderful life, welcome.
