ALT BLK ERA have released their new track ‘Tissues’ via LAB Records, a preview of the newly announced Out World EP, which, if the single is anything to go by, will contain flashy alternative pop brimming with energy but with an added bite that’s impossible to ignore.
Driving electronic forces bring an immediacy to the sounds, perfectly placing the building blocks of their arrangement to have maximum impact. A fiery instrumentation is pulled back at the perfect moments but remains in a hyperactive state, ready to burst. The polish and punch underline a thematic emotional catharsis, delivering something electrifying but vulnerable in turn.
Nyrobi, one half of the Beckett-Messam sister duo alongside Chaya, explains, “After opening up about my hidden disability in songs like ‘Straight To Heart’ & ‘Come On Outside’ it feels like there’s no topic we should be scared of singing about.
With all that’s going on in the world, it was good to talk about feeling overwhelmed with emotions, over a hyper/pop rock beat. The juxtaposition of it almost feels therapeutic.”
The Nottingham champions have been riding a wave over the past twelve months. Tours across the UK and Europe, breaking out with debut album Rave Immortal, topping charts, earning a MOBO and appearing on Jools Holland, they’ve been busy. The acceleration is far from over, however, with Our World set for release in May, refining the direction that has made them such a sought-after commodity.
