Manchester based post-punk band 2981 have us locked into their debut release ‘Julia {Ses Larmes Dans Le Nil}’

2981 initially formed as a two piece in the street of Manchester’s Northern Quarter,

The song-writing partnership of Guy Denis-Bushell and Esme Watts blossomed and the band eventually transitioned into a three piece approximately a year later, with the addition of bassist Elliott C. Forster.

The debut release features two songs, the A side being the eponymous ‘Julia {Ses Larmes Dans Le Nil}’ and the B side containing a brooding darker song titled ‘Europa _ Without Food (Roman Scout).’

‘Julia {Ses Larmes Dans Le Nil}’ shimmers with a semi grungy soundscape, captivating beats and a vocal performance that shifts between mesmerizing and intense.

‘Europa _ Without Food (Roman Scout)’ begins with a radiant and stirring intro, that gradually ascends in terms of melody before leading us to a unique vocal performance from the Manchester trio.

They soon became a common mainstay of the Manchester independent music scene, playing all over the city and branching out to shows Sheffield and London.

When it comes to performing live they are best known for immersive and hypnotic shows, which incorporates many DIY elements.
