Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Ivelisse Del Carmen sets the tone for 2026 with a colourful new track full of rhythmic movement. Entitled ‘Mi Sangre Baila’, it’s a lively track that feels like a tour of the now-London-based artist’s home country. Spirited and rooted in heritage, sleek bossa nova leanings are played against a pulsating mix of Latin electronic thump, putting Ivelisse in a place of easy confidence.
The lifts and sways and playful nature play into not only Puerto Rico but Ivelisse’s personal development over the last decade, sitting front and centre in the mix with a new lease of life and self-assurance, tapping into an emotive, perceptive joy.
Sharing a difficult period and her journey with physical and mental health, Ivelisse explains, “I lost my voice – literally and metaphorically. The medication turned the volume down. Therapy helped me listen again. You can’t write honestly unless you know yourself… Now I write with intention. Not for validation. Not to fit in. Just to be heard”
Ivelisse’s songwriting has consistently drawn the balance between Latin American melodies and rhythms tucked within contemporary textures. More than a decade performing across New York, stepping away from songwriting. Now back steadily in a new environment and new scene, her classically trained soprano sound can be found along with light and fluid genre boundaries.
