That said, never wanting to leave fans without a new tune blasting through their headphones, Sofia has delivered one final teaser. The playful, relatable, alt-pop reclaiming indie rock kicker that is ‘Your Mom’.
Ever the mischievous lyrical merchant, Sofia speaks of defying first impressions, out for fun without catching feelings, despite being seen as the ‘nice one’. Over a sleek bass groove and tight drums, crunchy guitars further inspire the bright, cheeky vocal. Direct, witty and self-aware, but a voice that could charm a bird off a tree, she embodies the authenticity necessary to pull off the subject matter.
On that, she shares, “There are so many hook-up anthems written by guys about keeping things casual and not catching feelings. I thought, why not write the same kind of song, but from a woman’s perspective?”
The irreverence, emotion and chaos of Sofia Gobbi have been praised constantly as her reputation has grown. If the full-length Bigger Man can deploy more of what we’ve heard in ‘That Ass!’, ‘idk’ and now ‘Your Mom’, we are in for a treat.
