Slick Krugers is back with his brand new song, ‘A Champions Return.’ The song sounds exactly like its title suggests, a triumphant return to the ring. It opens with
a dusty, old-school radio clip from a Muhammad Ali vs. Patterson fight, setting the mood right away. It feels classic and authentic from the jump.
Simply put, the song is a vibe. Big, triumphant horns carry the ensemble, backed by jazzy piano, vinyl scratches and a smooth, steady groove. The track feels perfect for winning moments and those moments of manifestation.
Krugers, who was born in Ohio, raised in Florida, and now works out of Mobile, Alabama, is known for blending genres. Hip-hop, jazz, soul, classical, and electronic sensibilities all come together into one coherent output of song. The new release feels cinematic, like it belongs in a movie scene where the main character conquers the foe.
“I wanted it to feel cinematic and emotional,” Krugers says. “Something you could close your eyes to and really feel.”
Following The Traveling Alchemist, Vol. 1, ‘A Champions Return’ shows Slick Krugers leaning deeper into big, story-driven music. It’s confident, polished, and built to make you feel like a winner
