Nashville alt-pop songstress Joanna Borne returns with the dark and shadowy new single ‘Wolves’. A rolling storm across the airwaves, it harks back to her roots in rural Saskatchewan, Canada. As the sonics mix tenderness and terror, a slow-burning atmosphere unfolds with a sharp instinct.

Across the three-minute runtime, the haunting soundscape has a low, rumbling undercurrent, airy synths echoing the howl of the white wolves that skulk the imagery. Eerie synth textures and flickering guitars deliver melodies that play off Joanna’s powerful vocals, performed with rising conviction and rhythmic punch. Collaborating with producers, David Lehr and Jesse Brock, the ambience is crafted to be simultaneously fascinating, infectious and chilling. The wildness at its heart is desperately alluring.

“The wolves taught me discernment, how something can be loving and unpredictable at once,” Joanna comments. “It’s the same lesson I apply to people.”

Joanna’s early work found success under a previous alias, but it was a move to Nashville that shaped the path ahead. A creative rebirth has introduced a darker side. With her depth of knowledge in the realm of emotions from her time spent as a psychiatric nurse, Joanna’s vision and lyricism convey an unquestionable clarity around themes of empathy, resilience, and hope.
