After more than two decades of carving out their place in the global rock landscape, OVERHAUL return with Time Flies By, a record that captures the grit, heart, and timeless defiance that has defined their sound since 1997. Released via TLG Rock / Virgin Music, the album is both a celebration of the band’s legacy and a bold reaffirmation that authentic rock ‘n’ roll is very much alive.
Formed in Scotland by American singer-songwriter Andy Gallagher, OVERHAUL’s roots are steeped in the raw energy of grunge, alternative rock, and classic guitar-driven songwriting. Drawing inspiration from a powerhouse roster of influences, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Hüsker Dü, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, Soul Asylum, Cheap Trick, and Bob Mould, the band have refined their signature wall of sound: driving rhythms, razor-edged riffs, and anthemic choruses built to be shouted back from the crowd.
The new album Time Flies By follows 2021’s Revisited and marks an evolution in both scope and collaboration. Featuring an impressive lineup of special guests, including Dan Murphy (Soul Asylum, Golden Smog, The Scarlet Goodbye), Astrid Young (Neil Young), Jeff Worley (Jackyl), and Trace Foster (Close Enemies, guitar tech for The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Geezer Butler), the record pays homage to classic rock’s golden era while pushing the band’s sound into new emotional terrain.
The lead single, “My Brighter Day”, offers a shimmering glimpse into that evolution. Inspired by a fleeting moment gazing out a Parisian hotel window, the track balances melancholy reflection with uplifting resolve, its soaring hooks and gritty guitar tones capturing the essence of OVERHAUL’s ability to find light amid turbulence.
Over their 25-year career, OVERHAUL have shared stages across the UK and Europe, bringing their incendiary live energy to audiences who crave the real thing, no frills, no filters, just pure rock catharsis. Their catalogue has also boasted collaborations with icons like Gordon Gano and Victor De Lorenzo (Violent Femmes), Mike Watt (Minutemen, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, J Mascis & The Fog), and Billy and Brendan Ryan (The Bogmen).
With Time Flies By, Gallagher and company sound both seasoned and reinvigorated, fusing nostalgic grit with modern fire. The album feels like a time capsule cracked open, every note echoing with the ghosts of rock’s past while carving out space for its future.
In 2026, the band will hit the road once again, embarking on a UK and Ireland tour in March alongside their American counterparts The Scarlet Goodbye, before heading to the Philippines in October for an international run.
