New England-based band The Glad Machine is back with their new album ‘All The Pretty Things‘. In an age where most bands are focused on releasing singles, they give listeners a nine-song album that’s engaging from start to finish.
The opener, ‘Collide’, starts with a tonal electric guitar underlay before the drums and vocals join in to kick things off. The song builds until it feels like you’re taking off in flight. It’s a great way to hook listeners in from the jump. As the album progresses, the title song ‘All The Pretty Things’, keeps things rolling with upbeat guitars, a solid groove, and character-filled vocal melodies. The song does its namesake justice, capturing the essence of the album.
The record ends on a softer note with ‘Want To Be The Light’. At just 53 seconds long, it’s a simple piano-and-vocal moment that wraps things up with the touching line, “I’ll be with you through it all / Yeah I want to be the light.”
The Glad Machine, made up of singer Brad Thayer, guitarists Greg Saulmon and Tommy Pluta, bassist Neal Robinson, and drummer Mike Franklin blend classic rock influences like Cheap Trick and Superdrag with a modern pop twist. You can hear these influences on this latest release.
As a result, All The Pretty Things is pure entertainment-catchy, loud, and all with a bit of heart. It’s music that’ll make you smile and turn up the volume.
