A six-piece psych-disco outfit based in London, PARTICLS was formed in the crowd of a Kerri Chandler DJ set. Since then, they’ve earned attention from music tastemakers from press to radio to streaming editorial, as well as touring across the UK. In the second half of 2025, they’ve been revealing the sounds of a debut EP, Every Now & Then, due November 15.
The latest from this is ‘Bullet Train (Frida)’. It’s laced with a 70s aesthetic, decorated with melodies on the fiddle, and rooted in a soft groove. Though the genre palette looks back to nostalgia, this particular blend feels new and unique, a little bit of playfulness and easygoing nature emerging throughout.
Vintage texture, flourishing arrangement choices and a free-flowing movement, it celebrates presence, authenticity and creation. As it meanders towards a vibrant final chorus, there are more elements that appear and then depart, intensity that does the same, making for radiant results.
The band reflect on the single, sharing, “Bullet Train is a vague love letter to Frida Kahlo…. And bullet trains, somehow. There is a message about presence and authenticity in there that I think Frida certainly personifies. The EP as a whole is just an expression of the enjoyment we all get making music together. We spent two days cutting rhythm tracks on a boat studio called Lightship 95 (David Holmes engineered the sessions) before deconstructing and reconstructing them at Mashrooms Studios with Ben and Zahara (Strange Pill Artists). It was a lot of fun (and a lot of work) to make and in the end we just hope it’s fun to listen to!”
