Swedish singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello nominee Elina returns with her stirring new single ‘Scars,’ a heartfelt duet with acclaimed British artist James TW.
The single arrives with the announcement and offers the first glimpse of Elina’s forthcoming second EP ‘A Place I Recognize,’ her most daring and soul-baring work to date.
‘Scars’ is an instant delight as the pleasurable melodies traverse through the air to reach our ears, with beautiful tones that are followed by the soft and equally joyful vocals of Elina.
Their voices intertwine over gentle acoustic guitar and spacious, reverb-soaked electric melodies, slowly building into something bigger before falling back to a tender hush.
“I’ve been a fan of James for years, so having him on this track is such an honour,” Elina shares.
” ‘Scars’ is a song about the way our imperfections shape us and how, in love, we hold each other up through them.
It’s about seeing someone fully, not in spite of their scars, but because of them.”
Speaking on the track James TW shared “Writing ‘Scars’ in a converted warehouse studio in Shoreditch on a rainy London afternoon was a beautifully calm and inspiring experience.
From being a listener of Elina’s music to now collaborating with her on this duet, it feels incredibly special.”
The track sets the tone for ‘A Place I Recognize,’ a project born from one of the most transformative seasons of Elina’s life.
After years of pushing herself to the brink, the Swedish artist made the life-changing decision to leave Stockholm and, with it, the relentless pace and pressures of the city, to begin again in the quiet countryside near her hometown.
At its heart, ‘A Place I Recognize’ is a collection of songs about courage, healing, and coming home to yourself.
