Catalina Cara explores healing and hope on soul-stirring new EP ‘What a Feeling’

Moldovan-Romanian alt-pop artist Catalina Cara returns with her most emotionally revealing work yet,  What a Feeling, a lush 5-track EP that captures the beauty and ache of healing through grief. Known for her velvet blend of dream pop, soulful grooves, and cinematic shimmer, Catalina expands her creative world with a record that feels both intimate and transcendent.

Following 2022’s Leap Year Baby, What a Feeling dives deeper into emotional territory, unearthing layers of vulnerability and renewal. Its title track,  co-created with producer Mihai Ristea and the late Casey Benjamin (Robert Glasper Experiment),  stands as the EP’s beating heart. Gliding between soulful synths and R&B fluidity, the song echoes the 1970s optimism of The New Seekers’ “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing,” reimagined as a mantra of unity and compassion during a time of personal and global turbulence.

Born out of silence and struggle, the EP unfolds like a cinematic journey through loss and rebirth. Catalina leads listeners through the fog of heartbreak toward a luminous horizon, with each track reflecting a phase of transformation, from numbness to clarity, from grief to grace.

“What a Feeling is a song I wanted people to experience as a warm embrace,” says Catalina. “It’s about reclaiming your light and using it to give love and magic back to the world.”

The result is a work that feels timeless yet immediate, its melodies wrapped in empathy and quiet strength. Catalina’s ethereal voice carries both weight and warmth, effortlessly gliding over textures of bass, synth, and soul that pulse with cinematic emotion.

With What a Feeling, Catalina Cara transforms vulnerability into art, a luminous, deeply human body of work that reminds us healing is not a destination, but a dance between pain, hope, and the unshakable rhythm of love.
