Music Crowns is thrilled to premiere the new single from UK-based collective Kaleidoscope Orchestra, Through the Clouds—a soaring fusion of orchestral grandeur, dream pop textures, and electronic energy. The track is a key taste of their debut album of original music, Moments Between, arriving later this year.
The story behind Through the Clouds is as compelling as the music itself. Composed by Steve Pycroft in 2019 during a flight from Aberdeen to London, the track was inspired by the awe and liberation of soaring through the skies. Longtime collaborator Alex Dee contributed lyrics and vocals inspired by the profound moment of seeing his newborn son open his eyes for the first time, reshaping the song into an emotionally charged journey.
Following months of experimentation, the track was fully re-orchestrated in 2024, with new orchestral recordings and a distinctive “4 over 6” drum groove, resulting in a cinematic, emotive soundscape. Through the Clouds exemplifies Kaleidoscope Orchestra’s signature ability to bridge symphonic tradition with modern electronic influences.
Known for bold reinterpretations of artists such as Fred Again.., Avicii, and The Prodigy, as well as collaborations with Cream, Skrillex, and Camelphat, the collective now channels their visionary approach into original compositions. This premiere marks a glimpse into Moments Between, an album exploring joy, struggle, memory, and the human condition.
