J-pop breakout 美麗 Bi-ray are back with a new layer to their ambitious debut. Recently, they unveiled another video for their song ‘Butterfly’, revealing an acoustic version and a broader narrative tied to the film Bride Hard.
The four-piece steps into Hollywood alongside icons, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp and Colleen Camp. Weaving in scenes from the new Simon West film, the group amplifies the emotional gravity of Yoshiki’s songwriting with this acoustic reimagining.
美麗 Bi-ray perform over soft piano, their vocals a mesh of delicate harmony, slow-burning and allowing each member to shine. Where the original video stormed to #1 on YouTube with more than nine million views, this version is a more intimate showcase of their versatility.
Yoshiki shares, “The moment I heard their voices, I knew they were something extraordinary. Each member has a unique sound and together they’re a force ready to change the future of J-Pop.”
Having already made their US debut with a national anthem performance at Dodger Stadium’s Japanese Heritage Night, Bi-Ray’s rise has been meteoric. They are a multicultural J-pop project handpicked by Yoshiki and poised to bridge global audiences.
