The Memos are back with ‘She’s on Her Own’, their new single telling the story of a single parent. There are elements of 90s Britpop in their sound, with the addition of a fresher indie sound. It’s a teaser for the upcoming EP, Futures Ours to Find, recorded at The Motor Museum.

Frontman Aaron Spencer opens the track with intimate vocals, leaning into his acoustic guitar as the song builds into a powerful moment. Moving from stripped-back beginnings into a space of euphoria, where singing guitar lines fill the skies and the rhythm section steadily walks on. It’s poignant in lyricism and stadium-ready in its arrangement.

Aaron explains, “She’s on Her Own was inspired by being raised by a single parent. As a kid, when you see your mother smiling, it’s all you really need, but as you grow older, you start to understand the struggle behind the smile. It’s a song that I never thought I’d release, but I played it to the band and they loved it. We knew it had to be shared. In the studio, we pushed ourselves sonically to bring out the emotion in the story. A song we are really proud of, as it feels hard to compare to other artists or our influences”

Supported by tastemakers and carving a live reputation that includes a performance at The Halliwell Jones Stadium to 10,000 people, alongside songwriting collaborations with Kyle Falconer and Justin Hawkins, The Memos are compelling and charming, and each track is a heartfelt gift.
