Hailing from Derbyshire comes indie-rock outfit Shadows of a Silhouette, making their return with the soaring anthem ‘The Overcure’. The raw lyricism of this single follows the summer release ‘Ventriloquist Dummy’ and a festival season highlight at Y Not main stage.
In ‘The Overcure’, the band brings a soft, gentle finesse, without losing the poetic grit. Steadily, the music rises from humble beginnings into a string-laden finale, evolving into a momentous, cinematic powerhouse from its initially relaxed indie roots. Catharsis through introspection, it’s heartfelt through and through.
The band shares, “I started writing The Overcure during a pretty difficult and reflective period of my life, looking back at stuff that hadn’t worked out. It’s definitely got a melancholic nostalgia to it. I showed it to Nathan, and he finished the lyrics and wrote some beautiful chords to go with mine. As always, he knew what I was trying to get at straight away and came perfectly onto that wavelength. The strings and synth towards the end of the track are something that we’ve never tried before, and give it the uplifting release that the track needs”
Since their 2019 formation, Shadows of a Silhouette, Nathan Brown (vocals), Reece Carter (guitar), William Scott (bass) and Tyler Henderson (drums), have put on performances of bold dynamism. This has given them a reputation and earned them festival headliners along the way. With more than 250,000 streams already to their name, they’re a band you want to keep an eye on.
