Jason Bembry releases poignant single ‘Voices in the Mirror’

New Jersey-born songwriter Jason Bembry has taken a reflective turn with his latest single, ‘Voices in the Mirror’. It follows the summer of bright, sunny anthems that Jason has released so far this year. Now, he strips the music back, revealing more of the vulnerability and introspection that was behind the service.

With this slower, more poignant pace, Jason builds on swelling and pulsating synths, laces his drums with reverb and provides a heartbreaking vocal harmony. The emotions ebb and flow, carrying listeners up the refrains before revealing a weightless atmosphere. Lyrically, it meditates on how our innermost thoughts are often hidden beneath the surface, but are nonetheless important to tackle and essential to understanding ourselves.

Jason explains, “It’s no coincidence that ‘Voices in the Mirror’ was released right before my birthday. This is my most personal song so far, and it’s all my inner thoughts.  It’s not meant to be scary or upsetting. We all watch our faces slowly age when we look in the mirror.  Eventually, our minds catch up to our eyes and we think, ‘Wow. I’m getting older.’ That sudden acknowledgement and acceptance is the real premise of this song.”

Classically trained in piano and composition, Jason Bembry has been active since his 2018 debut. This year his become known for floor-filling dance-pop, but ‘Voices in the Mirror’ is a new, refreshing, personal work, proof of versatility and showing Jason as capable of true emotional depth.
